Then and Now is the thirteenth episode of the first season of American Housewife. Written by Rick Weiner, Kenny Schwartz & Sarah Dunn and directed by John Fortenberry, it premiered on February 7, 2017.
Plot[]
The Otto's return home to find their house has been put up for sale. As they cannot afford to buy or rent any other home in the Westport area, they are forced to consider moving. This thrills Katie, until she sees how much Greg and the kids want to stay. Katie and Greg learn that the man who wants to sell the house did not get permission to do so from the actual owner (his mother). They track down the owner, who tells them they can stay and pay their current rent as long as they want.

Katie: mm-mm. (Takes Taylor’s phone away)
Taylor: Mom
Katie: no cellphones.
Taylor: I have rights.
Katie: no you don’t. I am in charge and I do have rights to take someone’s phone away for a couple minutes.
Taylor: ugh! (Gets all angry because of Katie who took Taylor’s phone away)
Katie: now we are going to have a nice breakfast all together. And you’re not getting your phone back for a couple minutes.
Taylor: UGH!
Anna-Kat: Ooh Taylor doesn’t get to be on her phone for today. (Giggles) she’s never gonna get her phone back all day today. (Giggles)
Taylor: UGH! (Goes to Anna-Kat’s seat and flips Anna-Kat’s chair and Anna-Kat trips on the floor)
Anna-Kat: (trips to the floor because of Taylor who flipped her chair and screams) ow.
Taylor: does she ever stop annoying me?
Katie: Taylor, you can’t flip Anna-Kat’s chair.
Taylor: but she started it and she annoyed me so I flipped her chair.
Katie: but still, I know she annoys you but you can’t flip her chair.
Anna-Kat: I’m bleeding.
Katie: aw you’re bleeding.
Taylor: (glares at Anna-Kat)
Anna-Kat: I’m sorry Taylor for annoying you.
Taylor: (ignores Anna-Kat)
Anna-Kat: mama she’s not talking to me.
Katie: well probably because you annoyed her after I told her no cell phones so you did annoy Taylor so I think I’m starting to get more strict with you.
Anna-Kat: (gasps sadly) I don’t like it when you get strict.
Katie: well I might so yeah.
(10 minutes later)
(everyone sits in silent)
Anna-Kat: I’m bored.
Taylor: (rudely) I don’t care. (Gets her phone from Katie and walks away angrily)
Katie: where are you going? And why do you have your phone? I said no phones during this breakfast.
Taylor: (rudely) why do you care? I have my phone and I’m not listening to you. (Continues walking away angrily)
Katie: (sighs offendly) I don’t know why she doesn’t want to eat with us.
Greg: I know. She’s always on her phone and never talks to us.
Katie: yeah. She’s always mad at me because I did something wrong to her.
Taylor: (laughs with her friends)
Oliver: I’m going too. (Goes to Alice)
Anna-Kat: aw. (Gets sad because Taylor and Oliver aren’t spending time with Anna-Kat)
Katie: yeah.
Greg: I agree.
Anna-Kat: they’re always out of the house and always out with their friends.
Katie: yeah but maybe they should’ve listened.
Anna-Kat: (chuckles) (about Taylor and Oliver) they’re gonna be so grounded forever. (Giggles)
Katie: Anna-Kat, not happening.
Anna-Kat: (gets sad) I’m bored.
Katie: it’s ok. We’ll play I spy.
Anna-Kat: (gasps happily) yay.
Katie: I’ll go first. I spy with my little eye something black.
Anna-Kat: is it the chairs mama?
Katie: you got it my princess.
Anna-Kat: (gasps happily) yay. I spy with my little eye something white.
Katie: is it the wall?
Anna-Kat: uh-huh.
Taylor: (laughing with Kristina, Molly and Kiki)
Kristina: yeah. This is when we first met.
Taylor: yeah: I liked that post.
Kristina: absolutely.
Kiki: is it true that we’ve been friend since 2004?
Taylor: yeah. (Her, Kristina, Kiki and Molly laugh)
Oliver: so thanks for this nice breakfast Alice.
Alice: your welcome my boyfriend. Who is Oliver. (Her and Oliver kiss)
Pam: (gasps) holy (bleep)
Katie: damn.
(in the car)
Oliver: this is it. Alice. I like her.
Taylor: awesome.
Oliver: thanks Tay.
Anna-Kat: Ooh Alice you love her. (Giggles) you’re gonna love her forever and ever and ever and ever. (Giggles)
Oliver: Mom why is Anna-Kat still annoying me about Alice and I?
Katie: well maybe because she wants to annoy you about your dates. And Taylor as well. Maybe Eyo loves you and maybe you love him too.
Taylor: are you crazy? I might love him but please stop talking about that.
Katie: well maybe both of them should come and you both should be telling about that in dinner and we should invite them to dinner.
Taylor and Oliver: are you crazy?
Greg: well your Mom is right. It’s time for them to come over and have some dinner with us.
Taylor and Oliver: UGH!
Anna-Kat: Ooh Eyo and Alice. You guys love them forever. (Giggles and waves in a flirty way to Taylor and Oliver)
Taylor and Oliver: UGH MOM! Anna-Kat is still annoying me about me and my crush and I’ve had enough with it her doing that.
Katie: Anna-Kat leave Taylor and Oliver alone.
Anna-Kat: (makes a sad face and gets all sad because she can’t annoy Taylor and Oliver)
Taylor and Oliver: thanks Mom.
