The Venue is the eighteenth episode of the second season of American Housewife, and the forty-first episode overall. Written by Stephanie Birkitt and directed by Lea Thompson. It aired on March 14, 2018.

Plot[]

Still without a venue for the Spring Gala, Katie hears from Greg that the perfect place is available, only to learn that she has to go through Chloe Brown Mueller to book it. An attempt to have Anna-Kat butter up Chloe fails, causing Katie to try and get the forceful Angela to help. Angela succeeds in having sex with a lonely Chloe, but then can't get rid of her. Katie eventually consoles a tearful Chloe, who claims she has no husband and no friends, and does lock up the venue. Meanwhile, Greg substitutes for Crossing Guard Sandy, and turns out to be very good at it. But the Otto kids are embarrassed to see their dad in this capacity, and plot to get him fired.

Greg: that’s not true.

Anna-Kat: (rudely) oh really? (Nicely) Taylor please tell him.

Taylor: (rudely) do you guys ever support us? Sometimes but not all the time.

Katie and Greg: hey

Anna-Kat: (rudely) uh-uh. Taylor’s right. You guys are the one who’s being a damn influence on us when we have to be raising ourselves? Really Greg? You guys are the two who’s raising hell the entire time.

Taylor, Oliver and Anna-Kat: (rudely to Katie and Greg) you’ve ruined our lives. (Glares at them and walk away angrily)

Katie: (groans) why are they doing this to us?

Greg: probably because they want their stuff back.

Katie: man up Greg.

Katie; (to Taylor and Oliver) you two are going to clean up the kitchen from now on.

Taylor: you are so unfair.

Anna-Kat: (chuckles) you guys are in so much trouble. (Giggles)

Taylor: Anna-Kat why?

Anna-Kat: what?

Taylor: (voice breaking) stop annoying me. (Runs upstairs and starts crying)

Katie: (looks at Anna-Kat for annoying Taylor) Anna-Kat,

Anna-Kat: But mama

Katie: No buts. Go upstairs to Taylor’s room, and apologize for annoying her.

Anna-Kat: But mama

Katie: Now.

Anna-Kat: (sighs and goes upstairs to Taylor’s room) (opens Taylor’s door) Taylor, I’m sorry for annoying you during your punishment.

Taylor: (continues crying)

Anna-Kat: aww Taylor (hugs Taylor and rubs Taylor’s back when Taylor is still crying)

Katie: (to Anna-Kat) what did you do?

Anna-Kat: (smiles at Katie and giggles) I did a prank to them.

Katie: Really? Did you?

Anna-Kat: (talks while giggling) maybe. (Continues giggling)

Katie: Don’t you lie to me. I think you did it.

Anna-Kat: (thinks while giggling) I didn’t do anything. I swear.

Katie: I think it happened.

(flashback)

Anna-Kat: (puts the spaceship drink on Taylor and Oliver’s cups and runs away giggling quietly and hides behind the staircase because she likes to prank her siblings)

(Both Taylor and Oliver come downstairs to drink their Diet Coke. The drink it but the drink explodes not in them and their shirts, but in the whole kitchen)

Taylor and Oliver: (gasp) ANNA-KAT!

Anna-Kat: it’s just a spaceship. (Giggles)

Taylor: UGH (stomps upstairs to her room angrily because of Anna-Kat who annoyed her) I can’t believe her. GOD!!!

Oliver: (goes to his room angrily because of Anna-Kat who annoyed him) I can’t believe her. I need to tell Mom.

(flashback ends)

Katie: Did you do it to them? DID YOU?

Anna-Kat: (sighs) Alright I did. But I just

Katie: You’re in your room for the night.

Anna-Kat: (looks upset, runs upstairs to her room and starts crying)

Katie: (erases the tally off the reward systems list)

Katie: (watches Anna-Kat crying from her phone and sighs sadly and goes to Anna-Kat’s room) sweetheart, I just didn’t want you to do it. OK?

Anna-Kat: (sniffles) ok.

Katie: come here. (Both Katie and Anna-Kat hug while Anna-Kat is still crying and sniffling so Katie rubs Anna-Kat’s back while she is still crying and sniffling) (says this paragraph during the hug) it’s ok. Listen, (both stop hugging for Katie’s sentence) annoying Taylor and Oliver is not ok. I know you love it but you have to focus on someone else if you’re gonna be annoying them over and over again.

Anna-Kat: but mama I can’t take it. Now they’re never gonna talk to me anymore for the rest of my life. (Continues crying and sniffles)

Katie: well listen, when we are annoying Taylor and Oliver, it’s never ok. Right?

Anna-Kat: yeah. (Sniffles)

Katie: so next time we are gonna forget it and move on. OK?

Anna-Kat: ok.

Katie: good. Now I think you owe Taylor and Oliver an apology.

Anna-Kat: ok. (Sniffles, wipes her tears away and continues being sad)

Katie: do you want me to go with you?

Anna-Kat: mm-hmm. (Continues being sad)

Katie: ok. Let’s go. (Her and Anna-Kat go to Taylor’s room so Anna-Kat can apologize)

Katie: (knocks on Taylor’s door)

Taylor: Is it Mom?

Katie: Yeah. Can I come in?

Taylor: Sure.

Katie: (opens Taylor’s door) Anna-Kat wants to say something to you.

Taylor: OK.

Anna-Kat: I’m sorry.

Taylor: I accept your apology. (Her and Anna-Kat hug)

Katie: ok. (Rubs Anna-Kat’s back when Anna-Kat and Taylor stop hugging) now let’s go to Oliver’s room.

Anna-Kat: ok mama. (Her and Katie go to Oliver’s room)

Katie: (knocks on Oliver’s door)

Oliver: come in.

Katie: (opens Oliver’s door) Oliver, Anna-Kat wants to say something to you.

Anna-Kat: I’m sorry.

Oliver: of course. I accept it. (Both hug for 5 seconds and then, they stop hugging)

Katie: ok. Are you ready for bed?

Anna-Kat: but mama

Katie: uh-uh-uh. It’s 8:30 and that’s your bedtime.

Anna-Kat: ok.

Katie: do you want a bedtime story?

Anna-Kat: uh-huh.

Katie: then let’s go my little princess.

Anna-Kat: ok. (Her and Katie go to Anna-Kat’s bedroom to read a bedtime story)

(8:40 PM)

Katie: (reads the book) then one day, the princess sweetheart was living in a magical world with her new favorite stuffed animal.

(8:54 PM)

Katie: I love you my sweetheart.

Anna-Kat: I love you more mama.

Katie: (chuckles) I love you more.

Anna-Kat: (giggles)

Katie: (giggles with Anna-Kat and they both hug and then 2 seconds later, they stop hugging) Good night.

Anna-Kat: Good night mama. (Goes to sleep)

Katie: (turns Anna-Kat’s light off, closes Anna-Kat’s door and goes to her room)

(the day after)

(2 PM)

Hayden: this is ridiculous cause now, we have to fill it now because Taylor didn’t do it. Does she even care about money?

Dante: what the hell you doing?

Hayden: going to the gas and filling it up because Taylor didn’t fill it after she used it.

Dante: what?

Hayden: yep. That is uncalled for. I told Katie and she is going to confront Taylor in an hour.

Dante: well she better because Taylor’s in so much trouble.

Hayden: yep. I’ll see how it’s going for Oliver.

Dante: who is he?

Hayden: he’s my nephew. He was cutting the ribbon during the polo match last year that Doris attended.

(3 PM)

Katie: Taylor, I don’t understand why you didn’t fill up the car with gas. As punishment, you’re not going to Trip’s house or picking him up for the whole week. You will stay home and spend time with us.

Taylor: UGH!

Anna-Kat: Ooh Taylor can’t be with her boyfriend anymore. (Giggles)

Taylor: UGH MOM!

Katie: Anna-Kat stay out of this.

Anna-Kat: (gives Katie puppy eyes)

Katie: sweetie, stay out of it. Remember last night what happened? I grounded you last night because you pulled a prank on Taylor and Oliver.

Anna-Kat: yes mama.

Katie: good because you were losing a tally off the reward systems list because you were annoying Taylor and Oliver last night. You need to know what you’re working for. Taylor it’s awesome to have a family bond.

Taylor: I’m not bonding.

Katie: but you spending time with us is so much fun. We love you and you’re a part of our family and you spending time with this family makes me and your father very happy.

Taylor: (sighs angrily) fine. But if Anna-Kat annoys me, I’m leaving and going to Trip’s.

Katie: she’s not going to.

Taylor: good.

(the week after)

Taylor: I’m going to Trip’s house to hang out for a little bit.

Katie: ok bye.

Taylor: bye. (Opens the door and closes it)

Anna-Kat: aw.

Katie: what?

Anna-Kat: I wish I was like her.

Katie: but sweetie she’s an teenaged adult and you’re still a child and you can’t go anywhere by yourself. You don’t have a car.

Anna-Kat: but Oliver can go wherever he wants without a license.

Katie: because he’s a teenaged adult like Taylor and that’s why. Me, Daddy, Taylor, Oliver and everyone else that’s a part of our family are adults and you’re still a kid so you still can’t go by yourself. You have to go with me or anybody else.

Anna-Kat: ok.
