Gala Auction[1] is the eighth episode of the second season of American Housewife, and the thirty-first episode overall. Written by Kat Likkel & John Hoberg and directed by John Putch, it aired on November 29, 2017.
Plot[]
Katie brags about how well she is doing getting prize donations for the Spring Gala, but Oliver and his friend Cooper Bradford insist that the prizes are lame and not something the highbrow parents in Westport will appreciate. Katie then tries to get some of the wealthy parents to donate private jet rides and trips to vacation homes, but Tara tells her such prizes are quid pro quo and Katie has nothing to offer in return. Oliver steps in with an idea that just might work, but it goes against everything Katie believes. Elsewhere, Greg takes Taylor and Anna-Kat to a Revolutionary War battle reenactment, but Taylor rebels after learning that women are only allowed to be nurses.
the episode starts with Greg scaring Taylor and Anna-Kat. Taylor doesn't like it, but Anna-Kat does, so she claps for him. Greg tells Taylor that history is the story of living breathing people who help shape their world. Katie is still killing it with the spring gala. She goes to Angela and Doris for the gala, but Tara stops by and says mean things to Katie. Tara is going to laugh at Katie's face. After she says the stuff she said to Katie, she walks away by pretending that Katie told Tara to get out. Greg wants to take Taylor and Anna-Kat to the reenactment. Anna-Kat wants in, but Taylor doesn't, but Greg tells them come on. So Anna-Kat is annoying Taylor about the reenactment. So she says to Taylor "Come on Taylor, you're gonna be in so much trouble when we get home." After Anna-Kat says it, she giggles and Taylor is offended so she calls Greg and he tells Anna-Kat to not annoy Taylor. so Anna-Kat apologizes to Taylor and they both hug. Katie and Oliver make donations for the gala so she can kill Tara. During the war, Greg takes Taylor's phone away because she is not participating. so Greg makes her. Taylor tells Katie that Greg won't let her go back to school, that means Greg makes her stay for 2 days until she goes back. Then, she runs upstairs. Katie and Tara meet at the diner so Katie can insult her to move along after Tara says something about the bradford table and after she says nice things to Katie. So Tara walks away. Greg tells Taylor to die but she says no a couple times so Greg stands up for her when Greg's boss tells her to die. After that, They both hug. Katie, Oliver and Cooper are cheering because they have ruined Tara's life. At the end of the episode, Katie and Greg look outside at Greg's office to see what Oliver and Cooper are doing.

Quotes[]
Greg: hey how do you guys like this? CHARGE! Scary huh?
Taylor: scary that some of this might be passed down to me.
Elizabeth: (laughing hysterically because of what Taylor said to Greg) well yeah but it’s probably not mature enough Greg.
Greg: ok then I guess no one likes it then.
Anna-Kat: I like it. (clapping for Greg)
Greg: (takes a bow) thank you. War reenactment is a history in which our nations do.
Taylor: why do you care so much about history? It’s just a bunch of boring facts and dates.
Anna-Kat: hey
Greg: boring facts? Why are you being so mean? History is the story of living breathing people who help shape our world.
Taylor: oh yeah? If there so great, why are they dead? (Walks away)
Greg: (gets offended)
Anna-Kat: (sighs offendly)
Elizabeth: (laughs) back into your face Greg. (Taylor and Elizabeth high-five)
Greg: who wants to go to the reenactment with me?
Taylor: nope.
Kiki: ehh.
Molly: not happening.
Kristina: never.
Taylor: who likes Anna-Kat sometimes? I’ll go first. Not really.
Kiki: nope.
Molly: not me.
Kristina: never.
Anna-Kat: (gasps happily) the famous people who died during the reenactment?
Greg: yeah.
Anna-Kat: I want in.
Greg: Come on.
Kristina: (scoffs) son of a bitch.
(Taylor, Kristina and Anna-Kat go)
Kristina: (gets the keys)
Carly: come on Taylor you don’t wanna be late for Dad.
Anna-Kat: come on Taylor, (chuckles) you’re gonna be in so much trouble when we get home. (Giggles)
Taylor: (offended) ugh Dad,
Greg: Anna-Kat, don’t annoy Taylor. OK? I need you to apologize to her right now.
Anna-Kat: (to Taylor) I’m sorry.
Taylor: I accept your apology. (Both hug)
Taylor: Mom, Dad won’t let me go back to school.
Greg: it’s a two day battle so no school for you.
Taylor: (looks angry and walks away)
Greg: (gets offended because of Taylor ignoring him and walking away angrily)
(4:23 PM)
Taylor: (crying)
Anna-Kat: (sighs and rubs Taylor’s back while hugging Taylor while Taylor is still crying) I know that you don’t like it but you’re gonna have to get used to it.
Taylor: but how am I gonna let Dad handle this? (Continues crying)
Greg: listen, it’s ok to cry because it’s too much for you. But sometimes we are a little harsh with them. So we just let it go. That’s all.
Taylor: well that’s so unfair. (Continues crying)
Anna-Kat: I know but it’s ok. (Rubs Taylor’s back more) listen, for example: I get apprehensive because of a storm that’s happening. Right?
Taylor: uh-huh. (Sniffles)
Anna-Kat: and we just have to let it go. OK?
Taylor: ok. (Both hug and rub each other’s backs during it while Taylor is still crying)
Anna-Kat: (says this paragraph during the hug) it’s ok my favorite sibling. I understand. It’s ok.

Taylor: (hears 23 by Miley Cyrus and goes downstairs) who the hell put this on Mom? (goes to Katie) We have an Alexa? (sighs and talks to herself) I hate rap so much. Maybe country can be good after this song. (goes to Katie) Did you buy an Alexa?
Katie: Yes. Why are you asking?
Taylor: i'm just checking, god. (Walks away)
Katie: (offended) well.
Greg: So did I check my offections?
Katie: No you didn't Greg.
(the day after)
(12:45 PM)
Katie: Taylor get in here right now.
Taylor: (comes downstairs to see Katie and Greg)
Greg: we are so disappointed in you. You remembered everything about your friends and you didn’t. Your grounded and as punishment, Anna-Kat will be watching you. She also will annoy you for a couple days and she will be in charge of the house and you will not be.
Katie: and also Anna-Kat will annoy you for the rest of the week.
Anna-Kat: Ooh Taylor you’re so grounded forever and I’m gonna annoy you for the rest of my life. And you lost your phone for a week.
Taylor: but Mom
Katie: give it to me.
Taylor: (gives her phone to Katie)
Katie: Anna-Kat will be watching you and annoy you for the rest of the week because she will be and if she does that, you will not call us you will get over it.
Taylor: UGH! (Goes upstairs to her room)
Katie: annoy her Anna-Kat.
Anna-Kat: yay. (Goes upstairs to Taylor’s room and annoys Taylor) Aw you’re so grounded forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. (Giggles)
Taylor: UGH! (Covers herself with a pillow)
Katie: (sighs) Taylor might be very mad because of us and Anna-Kat.
Greg: maybe she doesn’t like it.
Katie: I think we should talk to her.
Greg: who Taylor?
Katie: yeah. Let’s go.
(Katie and Greg go upstairs to Taylor’s room)
Greg: listen, I know it’s hard because of Anna-Kat annoying you but every time maybe you wanna call us.
Taylor: yeah.
Katie: well not from your phone, from the house.
Taylor: UGH!
Katie: listen, Anna-Kat is annoying you a lot I know, but she loves you and I think you should be very nice to her.
Taylor: but what if she annoys me.
Katie: then maybe you can do some coloring so she doesn’t have to annoy you.
Taylor: great. I’m never gonna get my phone back.
Katie: you will but in a week.
Taylor: but that’s too long.
Katie: it won’t be too long. Look. When the weeks done, it’ll be new for you to get your phone back.
Greg: and always we always keep in touch with you and your friends.
Taylor: but I want this week to go quick. I just want it to end right now.
Katie: you can’t make the week go fast.
Taylor: UGH!
Katie: (sighs) listen, when we get upset, we are because of Anna-Kat. But if you don’t disrespect me for the rest of the week, you can have your phone back.
Taylor: but Mom
Katie: well think. If this comes to the end, your whole face will come.
Taylor: ok.
Greg: so I told you when Anna-Kat annoys you, you just ignore her.
Taylor: ok.
Greg: thank you.

Katie: sweetie what’s wrong?
Anna-Kat: I was starting to annoy Taylor but now she’s not talking to me. (Continues crying)
Katie: well that’s because you were annoying her too much I think you have to stop it because maybe she wants her phone. I’ll talk to her. (Goes upstairs to Taylor’s room) sweetie, why aren’t you talking to Anna-Kat?
Taylor: because he had enough of her annoying me. It’s driving me crazy. I just want my phone back.
Katie: you will but don’t worry. Maybe you should apologize to Anna-Kat.
Taylor: (rudely) no. I will not apologize.
Katie: you need to say you’re sorry to Anna-Kat. So if you wanna earn your phone back, you have to apologize.
Taylor: alright. (Goes downstairs) I’m sorry Anna-Kat.
Anna-Kat: I accept your apology.
Taylor: (tries to hold back her tears but starts crying)
Anna-Kat: aw Taylor. (Both hug and rub each other’s backs during it while Taylor is still crying)

Taylor: MOM!
Katie: (goes to Taylor’s room) Taylor what’s going on?
Taylor: Anna-Kat has been annoying me all week and I’ve had enough of it.
Katie: I know but here. (Shows Taylor Taylor’s phone)
Taylor: (takes her phone from Katie and sees her texts) you texted me and I can have it back right now. (Voice breaking) I hate it when Anna-Kat annoys me. (Starts crying and hugs Katie)

Anna-Kat: (goes to Katie in Taylor’s room)
Katie: you were still annoying Taylor. Unacceptable.
Anna-Kat: but mama you told me to do it.
Katie: not anymore I’m not. See. She’s crying because of you. You lost a tally. (Erases the tally off the reward systems list)
Anna-Kat: aw Taylor I’m sorry about last week it’s ok. (Both hug and rub each other’s backs during it while Taylor is still crying)

Taylor: thanks Mom.
Katie: your welcome. (Both hug)
Taylor: (uses her phone)
Katie: (goes to Anna-Kat’s room) when you annoy Taylor, She gets mad because of you. So maybe you should lose screen time for a week.
Anna-Kat: (gasps sadly and cries more) but that’s too long.
Katie: it won’t be too long sweetheart. When the week is gone, you’ll do more screen time. OK?
Anna-Kat: ok. (Sniffles)
Katie: yeah I know it’s the worst my little princess. Aka my little cuckoo pants.
Anna-Kat: (acts like cuckoo pants and giggles while acting like cuckoo pants)
Katie: (chuckles and both hug while Anna-Kat is still acting like a weirdo) (says this paragraph during the hug) my little weirdo.
Anna-Kat: (continues acting like a weirdo)
